Merry Christmas!

Every year again
Comes the Christ Child
Down to earth
Where we humans are.

Stops with its blessing
At every house
Walks on all paths
With us in and out.

Merry Christmas, then,

Goodwill to all people
and Peace on Earth.

Every Year Again

Alle Jahre wieder**
Kommt das Christuskind
Auf die Erde nieder,
Wo wir Menschen sind.

Kehrt mit seinem Segen
Ein in jedes Haus,
Geht auf allen Wegen
Mit uns ein und aus.

At every house
Walks on all paths
With us in and out.
* * For the past twelve years I have been posting this very "Christmas"-photo "every year again". The accompanying texts: different.
Nothing has changed for the better. Callousness, egoism, greed, hypocrisy and – above all – stupidity are obviously increasing at the same speed as (wo)mankind is proliferating.
In this sense: Merry Christmas.
Enjoy life as long as you can.
And don't feel guilty!
Humbleness is for the others, eh?!

Merry Christmas

Same photo as last year,
as the year before,
as ten years ago.
Nothing seems to change, hm?

Merry Christmas, then,
Goodwill to all people
and Peace on Earth.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas,
Peace on Earth
and Goodwill to all People.

As for goodwill but one example: In Berlin six human beings in the so-called Holy Night set fire on a homeless human being sleeping in an underground station. Fortunately, other human beings put out the blaze.

Merry Christmas

Frohe Weihnacht.
Und Frieden auf Erden.
Und den Menschen ein Wohlgefallen.

Happy Christmas (War is over)

War is over now?

... if I want it?!

Well, I want it.

So what?

Ah, same procedure as every year:
A child's born.
Its 'cross': malnutrition.
About 10,000 times a day.
So Merry Christmas then,
and peace on Earth.
And after the mass
enjoy the masses on your table.

Sumptuous meals,
a Lucullan feast.
After all, (billions of) individuals can't change the world,
can they?
May the Lord care for the poor souls, eh?
Fucking hypocrites!

I am sure! Am I?

Yes!
Yes, to the question I have sometimes been asked.
This agnostic will be enjoying the days to come.
Given Christ would be the very one he is said to be;
and given you believe what you have been told:
Are you sure he would our preparations for what we call Christmas not call Christmess?

We do not need any god to know that it is go(o)d to be go(o)d to one another.

Yes. We bought a (killed) tree.
Ah, and again having the privilege to do the washing up when the ladies of the house are baking all those most delicious cookies!

Talking we are, joking we are, listening to one another we are, washing up I am. :)

And not seldom I would hear: Ah, Sean/Popoye, why would you think to need reminding us of so drastically of what happens in this world?

And, despite feeling guilty for spoiling their happiness, I'd say: 'Just to remind us of that we are very lucky.'

Not always - and how good I can understand - they would appreciate my words.

But for sure: I do appreciate their (hands') work.

Yes!

I do like - almost I had written: I love - our annual rituals.
And still, like last year: My 'Merry Christmas' post will not fill your hearts with joy.
It would not be my intention, anyway.

Having written this: Enjoy the togetherness with those you love. Be kind to one another. Very probably, any sign of kindness - may it be some sparkling eyes, a (very) kiss, a tender hug - well, you know what I mean, hm? :) - will be appreciated; more than any (expensive) present.

I am sure!

Am I?

Merry Christmas! :)

Yes, I am agnostic.
But as you see my family and I do love to celebrate Christmas our way - joyful and without any hectic.

Indeed, when thinking of you having such wonderful days as we are allowed to live I do feel happy for you. :)

Thus:

Merry Christmas to you and the yours!

And what would Christmas be without wonderful music.

As most of you would not understand the original German version by Josef Mohr (1816) I thought you might like to listen "Silent Night" in Gaelic. :)

And as it was not on his list, the following song I dedicate to a very special Yorkshireman living in Russia:

May you decide, which version you like best. Here's to you, James! :)

The "Ave Maria" by Mario Lanza, (in the film "The Great Caruso), by Luciano Pavarotti, (Christmas 1975 in Notre Dame) and by Sarah Brightman.
